Gut health through stress management
& hormone wellness
My Journey
My own journey with gut health began shortly after puberty. I remember living with a swollen tummy, bloating, wind and constant discomfort, never really understanding why. At seventeen, I started taking the contraceptive pill, and my symptoms became even worse.
After years of struggling, I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) at the age of twenty one. I left my GP appointment with a prescription for Fybogel and very little guidance about why my symptoms were happening or what I could do to improve them. Like so many people, I was told I simply had IBS and that it was something I would have to learn to live with.
Then, when I was thirty five, I reached a turning point. I felt so unwell that I knew something had to change. Desperate for answers, I booked an appointment with a private consultant. Within minutes of hearing my history, he suggested I have a coeliac blood test. It came back positive.
Despite my sister having been diagnosed with coeliac disease in 1973, it had never been considered during my own investigations. At the time, awareness of coeliac disease was far lower than it is today.
Going gluten-free brought significant improvements, but it wasn't the complete answer. Although some symptoms eased, I still experienced digestive problems and continued to struggle with IBS.
Fast forward to my late forties and the onset of perimenopause. Once again, I found myself exhausted, overwhelmed and battling persistent gut symptoms. My body no longer felt like my own. I was doing everything I thought I should be doing, yet I still didn't feel well. It became clear that there was far more going on than simply what I was eating.
I began working with a variety of holistic practitioners. Some approaches helped more than others, and each experience taught me something valuable. Working with a nutritionist sparked my interest in learning more about nutrition and my yoga studies have been invaluable in connecting to my body, listening to its signals and what it is communicating to me.
Why I Do What I Do
My passion for helping women improve their gut health comes from my own experience.
For many years, I lived with bloating, digestive discomfort and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). I searched for answers, tried countless approaches and often felt disappointed when nothing seemed to make a lasting difference. I know what it feels like to pin your hopes on the next solution, only to find it wasn't the missing piece.
At the time, I was a busy working mum trying to do it all. Like so many women, I believed I just needed to push harder, be more productive and strive for perfection. Looking back, I can see how disconnected I had become from my own body. I ignored the whispers until they became impossible to ignore.
What I didn't realise then was that my body had been communicating with me all along.
The bloating, digestive symptoms, fatigue and overwhelm weren't random. They were signals that something deeper needed my attention.
That realisation changed everything.
Through studying Functional Wellness and training as a Yoga Teacher specialising in nervous system regulation, I discovered that gut health isn't just about food. It's influenced by stress, hormones, sleep, movement, emotions, lifestyle and the intricate connections between every system in the body.
Today, I combine my personal experience with professional training to help women uncover what may be driving their symptoms. Rather than simply managing discomfort, I take a whole-person, evidence-informed approach that helps you understand what your body is trying to tell you, restore balance and create lasting wellbeing.
I know how frustrating it is to feel unheard or to be told your symptoms are "just IBS." My role is to listen carefully to your story, your symptoms and your goals and help you connect the dots. Together, we'll create a personalised plan that works with your life, not against it, so you can feel confident in your body again. it.
I am now four years into menopause feeling calmer, happier and more comfortable in my body than I have ever been.
